i live in elbridge and was wondering if it is illegal to park on some grass off a road? the road has double yellow lines running down most of it however the double yellow lines then stop. would it be illegal to park on the grass after where the yellow lines stop? there are usually other cars parked there too? there is only a wooden fence nxt to the grass with no houses or pavement on the same side. the other side of the fence is a huge racecourse. there would be no obstruction to anyone as there is no path etc.

Depends on the following:

1. If it's public property, there is an offence called "driving/parking on a verge".

2. If it's private, you could be trespassing, also an offence.

You take your chances.

There may well be bye laws which you can find out about form your local council
Certainly where my parents lived it was not allowed and there were fines issued sporadcially for those who parked on the grass verge.
If the double yellows have finished, why can't you park on the road?

cant park on the road as it would block the way for the cars. (its a single lane going both ways) my common sence would tell me not to just because it would cause an obstruction.
