I month - then you get a '13 month' MOT
You can actually renew your MoT at any time. (You can put your car through the test, and get a new certificate, every day of the year if you like).

However, as Fay Mousse indicates you'll only get the unexpired time, on your old MoT certificate, added to the validity of new one if you present your car for testing within one month of the 'due date'.

For example, my MoT expires on 27 June 2009. If I get my car through the test at any time from 28 May onwards, the new certificate will be dated to expire on 27 June 2010.
