Student insurance
I know it must have been asked 100s of times on here but I haven't got time to search though all of the previous questions.
Basically my 17 year old son is about to take his driving test and I need the cheapest insurance option. I have a company car that is covered by their insurance so can't put my son on that.
I have brought him a cheap Citroen Saxo 1.0 to start him off so that if he does have an accident that can simply be written off without claiming.
Should I take a a seprate policy and put him on as a named driver or should he start from day 1 on his own.
Quinns have been the cheapest by a long way so far but because of the costs involved I need the cheapest , legal option.

(I've not got a clue as to why that helps, but I've seen plenty of reliable sources suggesting that it can. It's certainly worth checking out).

Further to Chris's answer my 24 year old daughter who has had fully comp insurance in her own name on her own car since age 17 was recently added as a named driver on to her boyfriends insurance who at age 24 and passed his test 6 months ago it reduced his premium by over 200 goodness knows why but I would suggest making enquries as to adding yourself as a named driver on your sons insurance.Hopefully you will get more info from a couple on here who are in the car insurance industry.
My 17yr old son is still on a provisional licence in his own car. I insured him TPF&T in his own name with me as a named driver through Quinn who were by far the cheapest I could find online - altho when he passes his test they did confirm the premium would increase.
