Hi I have a Vauxhall corsa 1999 when it starts up it sounds rough for a few seconds then it sounds better, don't know if it's the oil pump or cam chain tenchanier . Someone said it could be the hydraulic lifters dry due to no oil in them. Can someone help please, its worrying me to think something could go wrong at any time.

is it due a service? it sounds like its suffering from low oil pressure on start up, maybe you could try an oil for older engines and add an oil additive, it depends what is causing the low oil pressure of course, longterm I would look at getting another car.

Hi
Its had an oil change and new filter last week, still the same dont know if its worth getting the cam chain and tenchanier changed to see if that does it, any ideas.
Whats the milage? if its 100.000 + look for a recon, it will work out cheaper.
this sounds like a timing chain problem, not a cheap job, i would suggest a local garage rather than a dealer.
It's probably the hydraulic tappets. If they go quiet after a few seconds there's nothing to worry about.
