I had a mk 2 in 1976 but the best was my corsair 2000executive, it was two tone black and grey and a dream to drive (auto of course) I've mentioned it on here loads, I loved that car. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte m&item=310155923511
HERE'S A manual
I had a navy blue zephyr zodiac in the early 80s - bench seats and column change.... not a mark on it until I tried to park it in a multi-story car park, it was like docking the QE2...
not arf pop pickers, the black leather upholstery was made the interior look like a 3 piece suite and the dash was walnut and chrome. It ran like a dream, except when the thingy went and we had to have a torque converter thingy replaced, good job my ex was in the RAF the MT mechanics rallied round lol
Zepher/zodaics transformend into the ford consul Jasper (not the cortina) then went on to be the granada and the granada coupe was the best of the mk one grannies I felt like the bees neez when I had my gold one with matching gold furry seat covers.
But then came the 2.9 ford scorpio ultima cosworth now that was a feerkin car and a half and it went like a rocket it was sooo much faster than my xr3 and my 2000E.
Dot I still have a scorpio ultima (albeit a 2.3) and the leather seats are so big and comfertable and all the boys toys on it are much better than any new car that you can get now.
used to have a mk2 1600e, one of the last a1971 j reg, gold with a tan vinyl roof and chrome rostyle wheels great looking car, tan interior wooden dash and door cappings.
a good one fetches an absolute mint these days.
