Can you keep tax disc once you have agreed to sell?
As above really, I bought a new car today and am part exchanging mine. Mine has 10 months tax on and the one I'm buying has none so I have had to pay for 6 months. Now... as I have already agreed to sell do I have to stand by this? Or because it is a garage will they be able to sell on without tax on mine (as per the one I am buying)? I don't want to do anything dodgy or illegal but only realised there was no tax at last minute after I had signed for it. Any advice?

The rules have changed this year and ONLY the registered keeper (not the garage) can cash in the road tax. As such the tax is of no value to the garage other than making it more attractive to the next buyer so garages are charging tax and telling customers to cash theirs in whereas in the past they may have given you say 6 months if yours has 6 months left.
