Ford Fiesta immobiliser fault

My 52-plate Fiesta won't start because the immobiliser doesn't recognise the key. It has happened once before and it was remedied by getting out, locking the door, unlocking and trying again. That doesn't seem to be working this time. Any suggestions?

you could try disconnecting the car battery for 10 mins, then reconnect the car battery and then try your key.
