Water damage

Would I be insured for rectification to electrics due to water damage caused to excessive water build up in the bulkhead due to a blocked drain from the bulkhead collector ?
I know I can call the insurance company but I do not want to be fobbed off if it is a legitimate claim

i would of thought very unlikely, i work in a repair shop and the only thing that would come close to anything like this would be flood damage which this clearly isnt.
If insurance companies entertained claims like this it would open up a can of worms ie, blown engines due to blocked oil feed, blown gearbox due to oil leak etc,etc..

I see your point. This water actually built up I think since last years rain as it was slowly filling the the footwell and although I finally noticed a damp patch on the carpet when I lifted the carpet it was full of water. There is a large void in the footwell its a merc 320clk you can imagine what the cost is going to be

Well for a start you can take it to an independant auto electrician

That will probably cost about half what it'll cost if you go through a Mercedes dealer.

Tried that jake, said fuse box needs to come out have to go to merc dealer something to do with code to get it up and running again

not uncommon for vehicles for water to get into the footwell...'water ingress' is the technical term, you say yours is from the bulkhead but it can occur through door seals or even the windscreen seal/bonding.
Its just unfortunate modern cars rely on so much electronics , water and electrics just dont mix.
Recoding and setting vehicles up with diagnostic kit is a another byproduct of electonics and not unique to mercs.

OK zacsmaster suppose it would be a good idea to take a look at the policy and see if it throws any light on the subject.
