yep turning the seal round 180degrees works fine in situations like this, I've done it myself on several machines in the past.
the seal will be held on by two clips, one on the outside where the door shuts, and one round the outer drum inside the machine, you will need to remove both these clips, then if you are very lucky you might just be able to turn the seal round once the clips are removed, but more likely you will have to remove the seal totally and refit it turned through 180degrees.
It's more a fiddly job that a difficult one, but anyone with a little general mechanical common sense should be able to do it. make sure you disconnect the machine from the mains though, the door lock has live power to it even if the machine is switched off!
