ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT VECTRA 1.8

hi there. i have a vectra 1.8 s reg 167,000 came with a 8 month mot when i bought it last month. I lost control of power steering today. apparantly the belt snapped. Took to garage to fix, now yellow engine light coming on and staying on. struggles to start ( 5 or 6 secs with help from accelarator pedal ) . drives ok but internitantly , like tonight, makes a thud and the power steering went again? HELP

With what you describe the pulley ma bey out of line causing the belt to fail, (has the belt come off again)? have you checked it? they yellow light you mention will have nothing to do with the belt but the Engine Management, just check yourself to see if all connecting wires / plugs are tight if all OK return to the selling garage and explain the problem
