honda trx 200

hi ppl i have a honda trx 200 1984 model quad bike, it hasnt been ridden for a while n the engine had ceased, ive opened up the engine, cleaned it, put in a new piston n new piston rings. the engine is fine now, but i cant seem to get it started, ive got a new cdi n coil but im not gettin any spark from the plug, does anyone know what the problem can be? ps. the plug is fine got it tested.

Petrol won't make it spark any better.

yes ive put petrol in it!!
im using a chinese cdi as i cant get an original honda one, could that be the problem? i was however told that the chinese cdi can work with honda.

http://www.hooperimpo...owpages.aspx?pid=1013 try looking on this site as you may need to do some rewiring to solve your problem, chinese cdi units are fine and will work but sometimes do not match up with the original wiring.....look at the last diagram on the site i gave you and wire your quad up (even temporarly) this way to check for a spark! hope this helps!
