Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help.....I think I got dirty petrol or else some dirt has accumulated in the tank.....the car is starting but looses power when I slow down....or when I come down gears!! Any suggestions....will it just clear itself?

the whole point in a fuel filter is to make sure no dirt reaches the engine, blaming dirt on poor running is just an easy option and very rarely is the cause, changing the fuel filter which on many vehicles is only every 40,000-80,000 miles would be the first thing to try just for elimination purposes. I would of thought though fuel starvation would be more noticable under load or acceleration rather than slowing down.
ps fuel filter issues are far more common on diesels rather than petrol.
