Moving house van. How much does it cost?
10 Answers
About how much does it cost to hire a van to move? It is a move in the local area but as I do not drive it would have to come with a driver. I have no idea how much these things cost.

Actually I am not moving any furniture as Im renting and moving to furnished accomodation but as I do not drive I do need to transport electrical items like microwave and tv and am wondering if I could just call a larger taxi and transport those things. Im looking for an economical way of doing this and I suppose will just end up doing a few taxi journeys carrying things in suitcases.
So to summarise, it is a small flat with no furniture to take (other than possibly a mattress) but all personal items like clothes, and then all electrical items. It would be a shame to have to leave things behind.
Im fine with no protection offered by the mans in vans lol as there is nothing reaslly expensive.

I engaged a man and van from Yellow Pages to move us over several journeys. Moving day came - and so did 2" of snow. Rang man and van who casually decided that he wouldn't be coming out to play. After I blew a minor fuse he then asked if I really had to move on a day like that. Er..yes, moving day with more than one party involved is kinda like having a baby - it has to happen. He ended the convo by saying he could recommend some people who 'could help me out' - grrrrrr....
We were able to use our buyers movers but it was lucky we were all moving within 5 miles. The next move I used a reputable firm, after getting quotes (from companies who actually came out and saw what was being moved) and it's the way to do it.
In your case filthie try and get a mate with a car to help and agree a figure for time, trouble and petrol.
