Hello to all.

In march 2007 someone got stopped on a motorbike, and gave my name, date of birth and an address that i lived at 15 yrs ago. the first thing i knew about it was october 2009 when i got a summons to court for none payment of fines, i went to court to say it wasn't me, and it all got wiped off. but now ive been summons to a trail. where do i stand?

I've rang DVLA and the bike in Question as never been registered to me(which i know ive never owned it)
My driving licence was registered at my presant address.

Where do i stand/go from here. any info would be greatfully recieved.

you were stopped by the police and gave an address you'd lived at 15 years eariler?

you mean you gave a false address?
this is clearly a case of identity theift.

As this has been accepted once by the courts already then you stand as always
" innocent until prooven guilty "
As you were not the person in question you should have nothing to fear. Especialy as it is " Already" on record.

a summons to a trial should indicate why you are being called , if in doubt contact a solicitor " check if they charge for consultaion first " .

i would also check if you can put in a claim for any incured expensess regarding this " time of work and travel "

sara3 i would advice re-reading the inicial post
thank you, and I would advise you get a spell-checker.
Out of curiosity, do own a motorbike or have a motorbike license?
I'd answer that if I considered it worthwhile.. but I don't.
my typin sucks i admit that but it can be read and understood .so all good .

however sara3 . I do at least the post in its entirety prior to replying so i understand the question .

sorry for coming of the subject in this reply keith
No fighting please!

I think you'll be fine Keith. The justice system does often see justice - albeit very, very slowly!

All the best,

Spare Ed

Do i report to police of identity theft, so they can get the ball rolling to find out who it was that as done this, or do i wait till after the trail?

kind regards

Keith
Regarding the reporting of the identity theift

It should have been noted at the time of the first court case . however thats the courts not the police.

So if this has not been reported i would advice the police of this issue so anyone using your name can be checked.

As this person has used your previous address , i can only surmise either that person lived in your old address and got your info from their , or it is actualy someone who knew you when you lived there. " however they could simply have removed an old passport and utility bill from your dustin " so many ways to gather information and sadly so many ways it can be used !

As this case involves identity theift " like the previous court case " , it could simply be a clerical error as to you recieving the summons however appearing at the court and stating your standing in this is again would be the best course of action "
You could check this out with the police while reporting the identity theift.
kcjc, I apologise to you. I did mis-read a line of your question. sorry! Sara
hang your head in shame -woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now now beejay , no need to rub salt into it

i think we all realise what had happened .

sara3 i for one salute your courage and honesty , it takes a lot to admit when you have made a mistake.
well thank you, S_C.. and I apologise to you for running with it :o)

as for beejay, I'll deal with you later!
