ive got a 2006 1.4 astra. i am losing coolant, about a tank a week. the inside of the engine, under the engine and battery is wet. The car has been pressure tested. 5 bar and no evidence of a leak. the car does not appear to be losing water when idoling nor does it over heat. It appears that it only loses water when driving. Any one got any clues?

Try cracking an egg into your coolant bottle,Used to work years ago.(It goes straight to the leak and when Engine is hot it seals leak.)
bars leak radiator sealer from halfords should do the trick.
Your thermistat could be staying closed or not working right and it will use some but if it dosent heat or if your engine over heats then their is the problum.
This is a classic description of a cylinder head gasket leak. In this case, the coolant is only forced out of the break in the gasket when the engine coolant pressure is elevated, such as when the engine is revved up during driving.

Take note of when you start the car to see if there's a limited but noticeable puff of white smoke out of the exhaust. That's also aids in diagnosing your problem...

Best of luck!
