Canoe Man
6 Answers
This drama documentary about John Darwin who faked his own death for the Insurance money and his wife Ann who had to deceive their two sons about their father's death by drowning from a canoe off the south coast.
Apparently John Darwin was given a sentence of six years jail but his wife was given six years plus six months. Was it fair that she got a longer jail sentence than her husband as it was his idea and he was the brains behind it all? Fancy allowing a publicity photo of themselves to be taken in Panama, especially in these days of Internet access. He may have got away with it had it not been for that photo.

John Darwin's plan would never have worked without his wife's support. You would have thought that a mother would have found it more difficult to deceive their sons in the way that they did. As it turned out, their plan foundered because he needed the identity document from the British police before they could actually settle in Paraguay for good. I thought the documentary was excellent.
