A couple of little bits of help for a Mazda 6
Hey folks,
Gearchanging in my Mazda has become very stiff and clunky. It can be quite difficult to change gear at times.
I want to eliminate the easy options first before I start worrying about new clutches etc, so I'm gonna top up the gearbox oil. However I have no idea how to do it on this car. Any suggestions?
Also, any idea how to get a paintcode for my car if it's not in the handbook or on the chassis anywhere? It's the dark blue you see on Mazda 6s but the Halfords list doesn't mention it.

You need to check the gearshift linkage from th remote underneath .. to the gearbox input. Check for wear in and connection, too. These are often nylon .. If worn, you may need to change part.
Transmission: A lot of Japanese cars have a drain point but no refill/level plug. I don't have a munual for that transmission, but you need to loog at the forward face of gearbox for a hex or allem key plug. If fitted, this will be the level to fill to.
They regard transmissions nowadays as "filled for life" lol ..
In this case, you can only fill through any gap into gearbox (like speedo drive plug or driveshaft socket. You have to remove bits for that!)
