is it possible to come off the motorway at haydock, travel down towards runcorn,(without going on a motorway)go over the bridge and get back on a56-m56 and head to north wales?
I assume that you're heading south down the M6. If so, it would probably make more sense to come off the motorway at Jn 24 (one junction before Haydock, at Jn 23). Then follow the A58(A570) signs towards Widnes/Runcorn.
Cross the bridge and follow the A557 ring road, then pick up the signs towards the M56, which you'll join at Jn 12.
yeah ive already been on route planner,i couldn't tell wether the a road went under the motorway and couldn't actually get on it,but have been told now theres major roadworks around the bridge putting longer on the journey so think im just going to go full motorway down to north wales.im taking my gran who hates motorways and the tunnel so trying to find alternate routes a bit more scenic for her!it's not too far so i'm sure she may cope,is there any sites i can check about roadworks etc?
p.s thanks for answers.
Where are you travelling from? It sounds as though your Gran is going to be on a motorway whether she likes it or not! Anyway, you can come off at junction 22, and head on the A49 through Warrington, cross the river there, then head out onto the A56.

(NB: By default that site does not include roadworks when you carry out a search..You'll need to put a tick in the 'Roadworks' box before clicking 'Search').
