My Garmin nuvi 1310 Speedometer is always 5mph less than my Cars Speedometer, it is my second Nuvi 1310 as my first one broke but that also was 5mph less than my Cars Speedometer so which is most accurate? Garmin or my Car?

car speedos always read slightly high (otherwise you would have a case to blame the manufacturer if you were caught for speeding.)

Chuck are you 100% sure m8 because i dont want to be flashed doing 35mph on my cars speedometer lol, i would love to believe the Garmin by the way lol
in the UK a car speedo must never read lower than your actual speed and must never read more than 110% + 6.25MPH of your true speed, because the speedo must never read even 0.01% low all car manufacturers set their speedos to read slightly high.

Ok thanks for the really interesting information Chuck, i shall take the plunge and drive past my local speedcam doing (35mph Car speedometer) tomorrow morning on my way to work and will follow the Garmins Speedometers reading from then onwards. cheers m8
The more worn down your tyres are, the more your speedo over reads. This is because the circumference of the tyres reduces.

Most lorries on the motorway going flat out will be doing about 55 or 56 mph on their speed limiters. Follow one and see what your speedo reads.

Thanks for the info Panic Button i will do that.
Don't be silly, if you go through a speed camera in a 30mph limit when you are doing 35mph on your speedo you will get caught !

My Garmin reads 29 at 30 mph, if I am doing 70mph it only reads 67 !

AS I only saw your post today you should get the ticket any day soon!
