Is there any difference between supermarket ( ie Morrisons) fuel and BP or Shell outlets , or are they sourced from the same bulk suppliers ?

In my area the price difference is about 5p a litre, with Morrisons still holding out at 114.9p.

In France, they claim that hypermarket fuel isn't as rich as other fuels so you don't get as many miles to the gallon. They even advertised it once.
No difference at all. Morrisons and other supermarkets do not refine oil.
They can offset the costs because they don't rely on fuel for their sole profits.

I have seen an Asda tanker filling up BP station. Does this tell you something?
These days it's all the same stuff fro the nearest refinery. In the past though there have been cases of supermarkets getting some cheaper petrol from whatever source and causing engine damage, Google the "Nikasil bore issue" for BMW's. I never buy supermarket petrol simply because you never know when they are going to get another tanker full of some sort of dodgy petrol. Having said that it's pretty unlikely.
