Brake Discs
I posted a question a couple of weeks ago about my brakes making a scraping noise. It has got worse. Could it be a cracked disc and is it dangerous?

Don't know to be honest, hopefully there's a mechanic type person on here who will know.
I was doing 70 down the bypass today and had to stop very quickly when some airhole shot out in front of me (driver was male). The brakes worked perfectly, but if the scraping noise is metal on metal, that can't be good can it?

Here are some causes to your problem Chrissa, chipping stuck between the Disk & brake pad, Are you getting confused with a Wheel bearing not the brake, when does the noise start? has the car been left standing a long whilst after rainfall this causing rust to build up on the disk, Brake Pad needs replacing, if the disk was cracked you would get an imbalance on your braking.

That's the Mk4 or 5 Escort.
I did give you the options at the time.
Hard to beat these for price .. if Mk5. If Mk 4 ask them.
