It was a variety show and always had a big name as the star turn at the end. It also had a number of comperes who made their name in the show, including Bruce Forsyth and Jimmy Tarbuck.
In the middle of the show was a game slot where members of the audience competed for a star prize (usually a washing machine). In one of the regular games competitors had to rearrange a jumbled collection of letters and words into a well known phrase or saying.
