Mercedes SLK 230 V-reg, done 58k miles on the clock, anyone own one of these already? Are they thirsty cars petrol-wise? Any tips for what to look out for when choosing a used one ? All advice gratefully received.....TIA x

Looks like gear boxes, pedals and ill fitting roofs are the things to look for apparently they go quite cheaply at auction so have a good dealer mark up.
Indicator failure on older ones can cost £600
I'd try and get a warranty !
Doesn't look like you'll be getting much more than 25 mpg - guess that's why they're cheap at auction
I'd point out all this when talking about price

Im only looking at one Forget, lol...cant quite make the break yet...dealer offered me what i hoped to get PX for my car, however, have not test driven the Merc yet, the milage the dealer quoted was wrong too, it read 59k on the clock! Needs a couple of new tyres too....so I reckon I could knock him down on the price a bit more.....
I have a 230 SLK P-reg. It still drives like a dream. Not high fuel consumption. Have had problems a couple of times with the roof, so check that it works alright. This car can lead you into trouble. I once got 5 penalty points for speeding. It was stolen 18 months ago and I bought a 320 SLK. Does anyone want a used 230 SLK? high mileage, low price, and still a very lovely car.
