Will we ever be fined?

At the start of July, we wen't to France for a week, and took our car with us.

At one point, dad got confused with the speed limit and the dial in the car, seeing as the big numbers on the dial, which he was looking at were in mph and the speed limits were stated in kmph.

This inevitably lmeant that he got flashed by a speed camera. But, so far we haven't heard anything . . . . how long should it take?

Didn't he think it weird that the speed limit was over 100?

The speed limit was something like 50/60.

which means he was probably going 49/59 mph, depending on which the sign said.

Seeing as it was in July, i'd have thought he got away with it....should have heard something by now.... or there was no film in the speed camera when it flashed your dad, so either way, a let off methinks :0)

Take no chances at all.If you have any relatives or friends in America,Russia,or even
Afghanistan,contact them and ask to visit them asap.
Get away for at least 6 months,until the heat has died down.Good luck.

dad knew it would take longer than it would to come through from a speedcamera in England, but surely something would have happened by now?

If you had been caught by a traffic cop with a radar gun you would have to pay an on the spot fine. I think you probably don't have much to worry about as your number probably won't be recognised and even if it was I dont think the french would bother even if they could get hold of your dad's address. Some poor french farmer is probably even now trying to explain to the police that he was milking his cows when the alleged offence took place 200 kilometers away.

It is the same when a foreign driver gets flashed in this country,they get away with it because there is no way of tracing them,but it may stay on file in case you go again with the same vehicle.

I don't think dad ever intends on going back to france again . . . . he hated it.
