Which Lane?

I'm hoping someone can settle an argument for me.....

You are approaching a roundabout and you want to take the second exit. On your approach, the road splits into two lanes that have no directional markings. Do you automatically use the left hand lane for the second exit or do you use the right hand lane, depending on how far round the second exit is?

Hope that makes sense.

Yep Doc has it, basicaly when approaching a roundabout straddle the line between two lanes, wait while a gap that could accomodate 4 lorrys go's bye then move into the roundabout causing oncoming traffic to brake sharply. Then accelerate overtaking where possible, then stop to allow traffic onto the roundabout. Then leave the roundabout by cutting up traffic. Under no circumstance indicate.

Thats how they do it round my way

Oooh you naughty person mdoo. You would never catch me doing that ( especially not on the ridiculous single carriageway York ringroad at rush hour. No no no. Not me. Never!
If the 2nd exit is 12 o'clock (or straight on), use the left hand lane. There is a roundabout near where I live and cannot recall anyone ever using the right hand lane and then the 2nd exit.

If 2nd exit is before 3 o'clock, use left hand lane. 3 o'clock or after, use right hand lane.

I've always done this and so it seems to 99% of other drivers.
it's kill or be killed out there.. only the strongest survive. straddle the 2 lanes, put your foot down. the roundabout it yours ;o)
*is.

doh!
If you are going straight over then either L/H or R/H lane (unless marked accordingly) can be used. You just have to keep your wits about you and make sure you merge into the exit in turn. The problem is you get so many pig headed drivers that think either one or tuther lane is correct and will try and push you out.
