Whats "a computer"

A high end graphics workstation with an array of hard drives and a 28inch monitor?

Or

A 10inch netbook computer?

they answers would be hugely different for each of them.
or to expand a little...

A largish desktop will draw about 200-300 watts of power and would cost about 3 pence and hour to run.

A netbook will draw about 20watts and cost about 0.2pence an hour to run

(both based on a unit cost of 12p per kWh)

just a normal household computer with a tower and monitor.
Depends on Power supply .. Drives fitted, etc. I would expect no more than maybe 20p per day .. 50p in 24hrs.
I may be wrong .. just an educated guess.
This table might be useful:

The right hand column shows the number of kilowatt hours used. As Chuck indicates, 12p per kilowatt hour is a 'ball park figure'. So you're looking at around 3p or 4p per hour to run a PC and monitor.
