Tyre on Wrong Way
I just noticed on the receipt from my MOT that it says the rear nearside tyre is on the wrong way round. How much if any effect does this have on anything?

Look on the side wall of the tyre, it will either have an arrow marked "direction of rotation" in which case it can be fitted to the other side of the car to sort the problem out, or it will be marked either inside or outside, in which case the tyre has been fitted to the rim the wrong way round and needs to be refitted.

Ah yes! I looked and it says 'Inside'.
I wish I had never gone to that MOT place. When I picked it up after it's retest the receptions just gave me the pass certificate and the receipt. Nobody mentioned anything about the tyre and I only noticed it written on the receipt yesterday when I was filing the paperwork away.

Yes, that's the point, if it had of been a directional tyre and had been fitted to the wrong side so it's was rotating the wrong way then moving the wheel to the other side of the car would have made it rotate the correct way.
As it happens it's an asymmetrical tyre so it needs refitting to the wheel the other way round.

I may be a bit thick here, but regardless of the right or wrong of whether the tyre we be running the correct direction if it was swapped to the other side of the car, surely than means that the wheel on the other side would need to be moved also in order to have a tyre on each corner. That would mean that the tyre now swapped into position would now also be fitted the wrong way?
eeeuuggghhhh, I don't understand any of this. I took it to the garage and said I think you put my tyre on the wrong way. He informed me that when they switched the wheel over, they didn't remove the tyre so it would have been on the wrong way around to start with. He then said because of the directional pattern on the tread, it didn't really matter and that if it was a different type of tyre then it would need to be changed.
Yes, I did and I pointed that out to him but he still just said it didn't make a difference. I'm a stupid girl who knows nothing about cars and I'm getting very fed up of so called experts telling me things that turn out not to be true - and charging me for the pleasure. I thought you were supposed to be able to trust these people. And I still have a tyre on the 'wrong way'.
I'm in Aylesbury
I usually use Drive in around the corner from them - I've found them pretty good and reasonably priced
