Who pays to get a broken down car under warranty back to the garage of purchase
My car has broken down and is within its 3 month warranty.
It is the clutch which is covered under the said warranty.
The vehicle is parked up 20 miles away from the garage where it was purchased.
Who foots the bill to get the vehicle back to the garage. Should they recover it gratis?

I dont think it would be down to them to get the car to the garage, but a certain amount of discretion may be used by the company for goodwill to you as a customer, so i would ring 'em and ask them. Maybe you arrange it...they will look at footing all/some of the bill..........good luck. :0)

TWR - Although morally I think your viewpoint correct, I doubt the garage would see it that way, it will depend on the conditions of the warranty. The car being 20 miles from the garage could easily be considered a factor which is outside the garage's reasonable and foreseeable control and might not be covered as a result. If ath007 had, for example, managed to get to France before the clutch went, would you still expect them to tow it?
Also, considering it's only a 3 month warranty, I wouldn't have reasonably expected the garage's checks to be amazingly thorough. 3 months is not a very long time for a car to have to not break down, so it's not as though they're going to go over it with a fine-toothed comb.

With respect to your answer Mobius, past times & friends experiences have put me in that frame of mind with garages, take what you can from them ( It's a bad attitude to take) but some garages have caused many people to think like this, but going back to the Vehicle check, I would advise Ath007 to RE-CHECK what his pre purchase check included then take it from there, If you do not try, you don't get anywhere.
