Wrong Type Of Snow ?

Came home from work - parked car on drive which is on a gradient .

Went out again later - started snowing again while i was out .

Returned home - drove unto drive - applied handbrake to maximum notch - car wont stop on drive , but keeps sliding off .

Yes - but that has never happened before, in the same scenario

I'd say you're just compacting the snow into ice.

I presume you leave your car in first or reverse gear, depending on the direction of the gradient.

put summat behind the wheels to try and stop it...

just ensure to clear/grit your driveway to avoid such things - i do

Must be a fair gradient? Clear snow, lay grit/rocksalt etc should help the situation...

Had that happen to me once, I put the handbrake on opened the door put my foot on the drive and found the car was slowly sliding back. I stopped it sliding by using the footbrake, 4 brakes on instead of just 2 with only the handbrake on.

Only way is to clear snow and ice off the drive.

I bet your drive is not as bad as this one!............
