my wife is 4' 11'' and has been learning to drive in a ford focus. She can't get her heel on the floor and presses the pedals down with the tips of her toes (size two feet!). She's got back problems and has to stop for a while. Can anyone recommend a car that she should learn in? Or, is there anything on the market that could make it easier for her to drive a bigger car - eg, pedal extensions etc. If so, where would I get them from? Thanks!

That's it then a pedal car, try Toys "R" us.  LOL

Perhaps a Mini would be her best bet?

That wasn't very nice FB - you naughty person - I mean Toys R Us!

Well, then the electric car from Toys "R" Us... though top speed is only 5 miles per hour, there is a "Barbie" model in pink!

Ah!
thats a bit harsh thats his wife your talking about!

I agree Millsy - people can be so cruel. I'm not surprised Antony hasn't came back to this thread!

My suggestion of a Mini was a genuine one - I'm happy to say.

Thanks everyone! She's now costing me a fortune with a chiropracter and given up her driving lessons...Is there anyone out there who'll take me to the pub and drive me home after I've had a few?
Serious reply here- your local Ford dealer should be able to source pedal modifications for you. Although 4'11" is just under 5"- I'm surprised that the Focus seat doesn't allow adequate adjsutment. Does the squab move up and down as well as back and forth? It might be possible to fit a seat from a higher spec model if not.

Hey, I have the same problem I'm 4ft 9 and I start to learn to drive in september... I hate this everyone in my family is short but not THIS short and i cant find a car.. My dream car the VW Beetle... Kinda fits me but well i'm do dang close to the steering wheel if i wrecked i would prolly die! I'm thinking about getting oh gosh! I forgot the name.. If i find a car that fits me when i go to the car dealership in a couple days i'll let yall know! Happy Easter!
