compaq c300 battery

bought new battery for wifes laptop, thought better make sure it fitted before giving it to her on xmas day, it looked bigger but I put it in ok, and it is working ok now I can not get it out, therefor I cant give it to her as a surprise pressie. The slide which you move to get battery out is in the position that you move it to, to open to get it out,can anyone help me PLEASE.
