Sometimes they might say on them somewhere that they are town and country,or there might be a 'w' on the side where the rating is.They are more treaded than normal tyres,not how deep the tread is but all the lines that are there.They are deeply treaded though.
Have a look at the side of the tyre and see what it says EG 205/40/17ZR(non winter tyres-for winter tyres where I have put ZR it might say W or WR.

Winter tyres are either marked with a snowflake symbol or will have M & S marked on the tyres near the size markings. The M & S stands for mud and snow, however they are made to the same standards as winter tyres marked with the snowflake symbol and will give greater vehicle control in any conditions where the road temperature is below 7 degrees Celsius.
