£40 to fill up my little Ford KA.

Years back I had an Astra sport...and that was only £30 to fill up. I didn't drive for a few years so really notice the difference now.

I think the important word in that story is "average"

Mine would be about that to fill up at the moment, still a hell of a lot though, when I got the car about 6 years ago I couldn't even squeeze £50 in it.

a big one SQB! I mainly drive at at week ends so although it's a gas guzzler I don't spend much on fuel overall, It's I call a luxo barge! I ride the bike in the week when traffic is an issue.

at 1.40 mine would cost about £98 at the moment it costs around £90. for it to be £70 diesel would have to be £1 per litre, oh the days....

I was in the US last June. Everyone was complaining that "gas" was approaching $2.70 / gallon (OK, their gallons are only ~3.8 litres).
I filled the tank from almost empty on my hire car - a 3 litre V6 - and it came to.......
$36.94 !
When I told them "gas" in the UK was more like $7.00 / gallon, they were aghast.
