Insurance cover shock
I was banned for 6 months for speeding 36-38mph in a 30mph zone. Unfortunately I was caught on camera 4 times (12 points), which landed me with a tt99. I moved address and informed the DVLA (medical department) of this change (this apparently was not correct it should have just gone to the DVLA) (they are both in Swansea with almost identical post codes. I therefore was not aware that I was issued with a speeding letter for the first fine and subsequent 3 that followed (to my old address). I am amazed that the change of address I notified the medical centre of was not passed on to the correct department. I have just bought a lovely Ford Puma, and was mortified of the insurance about £700 for 3rd part, fire and theft. I have been driving for over 30 years and have never had an accident or made an insurance claim. It shows no points on my driving licence now. I did not intend to deceive the DVLA and had I received the first letter about speeding numbers 2,3 and 4 would not have been issued as I would have been aware of my error, Instead I received all 4 letters at once in 1 envelope 2 months later. Can anybody advise me on a car insurance company who would treat me kindly, Im broken-hearted about this.
