what is the rate allowed / recommended by HMRS for PRIVATE mileage. I;ve looked on site but it is v confusing!!!

What's HMRS?
It's not that confusing

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/rates/travel.htm

For a car 40p for the first 10000 miles, 25p after that.
It used to be 40p per mile but not sure if thsi is still the case

I THOUGHT that ddifferent engine sizes got different rates . Is it all 40p for ANY car?

for private cars its 40p for the first 10k then 25p thereafter - for any car
The historical model railway society. (My Dads a member of it as it happens)

Would have thought HMRC would have more info on private mileage, no wonder they were getting confused.
