Robbers! Welldone
23 Answers
I watched the video with incredulity as an old lady tried to stop robbers intent on robbing a jeweller ´s shop in Northampton armed only with her handbag and a total belief in herself.
Indeed a very brave woman.
HOWEVER....I was impressed by the way that these villains treated grandma, with certain amount of respect and decorum.........it could have been very nasty for her if it were not for the attitude taken by our "crooks"
Now, what say you?........if I was robbing a jeweller´s shop with my mates and an old lady tried to intervene with her handbag, I would have wrapped the handbag around her neck and given her a meaningful push down to the floor.......wouldn´t you?
Well done robbers!!

She's an idiot
If you'd come around the corner and seen some old dear taking on a bunch of yobs - you'd have waded in too
How much would you have thanked her if you'd gotten a broken neck for your trouble.
You should tackle a small fire if it's safe to do so.
If you wade into a blazing house fire you're an idiot putting yourself and others at risk.
Same with public order

im glad the person with the camera ran to help too, as did other members of the public rather than leave the woman alone. She acted without thinking, which in this case turned out OK, but could have been worse.
That said though, its good to see some people who are proactive in the fight against crime. Dont let the scum win!

She's not an idiot at all - my first instinct this morning when I saw it on the news was to smile and say out loud "Good Girl". However, with hindsight, it was silly of her because of what the consequences could have been.... Luckily for this plucky lady, they weren't so bad.
My mum would probably have done the same - I would have admired her, but told her off all the same.

the only thing perhaps that can be afforded the crooks s that in an instant they must have weighed up the pros and cons.
1. do a robbery, get caught, do some time, gain respect (from people that admire this sort of thing)
2. do a robbery, knock off (bruatlly attack/savages etc etc) an innocent bystanding granny, get caught, do some time, get berated by the press and public (victimised = compo?), get duffed up in jail, lose any credibility / honour amongst thieves etc.
in the olden days there was saying i think, like the idiom: might as well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb.
