Rover 820 Stereo "re-start"

We've recently inherited a Rover 820 sli, N reg. Only thing is, when the stereo is switched on, the display says:

Rover

then:

"Wait"

-which remains on the display.

I know that the battery was changed not too long ago, so presume this has something to do with it.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get around this? (The code is not recorded in the manual).

check out your local yellow pages under car audio you should be able to find someone to decode your stereo this normally costs about a tenner
well the old trick used to be to stick it in the frezzer and it wipes the code off it allowing it to work freely but i think they might have cottend on to that....
