insurance fronting

tonight there was a programe on the cost of driving a car and one bit court my eye which was parents would insure there kids car as there own and have them as a name driver to keep there insurance down.
The program claims that (fronting ) is against the law.
In my case i have a sports car which i use alot but if i'm just popping around town to the shops i use my other car which my son is a name driver.
As far as im concerned if i'm not using it he can , he may use it all week or just a odd day so my question is how much doe's he need to be using it before the law says (fronting) ?

Well likewise I have a Range Rover for the dogs ( kids are named drivers as they often walk the dogs) and a sports car for me ( not named as drivers). We also have a van which they are named as drivers of as they often do things like go to the tip, get stuff for the garden etc and very like yourself I don't think it's any of anyone's business who drives my cars when I'm not using them. Fronting is awfully hard to prove if you have a legitimnate reason to have each vehicle (which I have) but fairly easy to assume if you have a family saloon and hot hatch boy racer which your son uses;-)
Fronting IS against the law. It's insurance fraud. There's no "claim" about it.
You are fronting if you insure a car in your name which you are clearly not the main driver of whilst allowing a secondary driver to drive it most of the time.
The answer to your question will depend on how much on average you use the second car compared to your son. If it's roughly 50/50 or you use it more then that will be fine. If he clearly uses it more then it should be insured in his name.

I was in an accident with the car. We have 1 car in the family, in my opinion my mom uses it more , so we made her the main driver . I use it to get to work and back each day but she takes and picks up my brother from university each day, picks my dad up from work, does all the shopping for the house and goes out with it .
Thats nearly 3 times more than i drive it. The moment the insurance heard i use it to get to work now they claim we using "fronting". How can they say cheating the, when we feel that she uses the car more. Its unfair that there say is the last.
