Had a form from them to fill in for a new photo for my driving licence, apart from the cost of having photos done they want £20 as well.
I think if you are on a pension it should be less or free!

why and who will subside it?
Question Author
The money they make from road tax.

As for why, that's a stupid question?
£20 quid ever 10 years isnt that bad
You'll have to wait trt, it's free at 70.
you & me fluff - we seem to pay for every other 'benefit' that the buggers won't give us because we actually have made the mistake of looking after ourselves ...
Had this in May, trt, agree, but Driver =£, + car=£, + HGV=£ .................DVLA =££££££'s in.

On pensions, to me, should be -xx%, multiple licence = -x%

But tax & gov't = ++++++++++++++£££££££%
I don't think so, driving is a choice (although admittedly not much of one in certain parts of rural England!), and I don't really see why there should be a discount for it.
no its not stupid, why should it be less or free just because you are a pensioner
Rip off Britain, lots of government sanctioned, non entity bodies set up who's sole purpose is to make money.
DVLA can pass the buck and blame the government. In reality though, both parties profit at the expense of us poor lowly end consumers.
I've stuck with the old paper one that way there is no need for renewal.
You could chose not to drive.

it's not even 0.6p per day is it?
choose :
If you are truly outraged I suggest you give up driving and take advantage of your free bus pass.
I'm 60, I have made provision for my retirement, (My Tenants will provide)
I look at posts like the OP above and think, "Ahh pensioners, don't you
just love 'em?"
My son learned from experience with DVLA to make sure that anything you send to them to make sure that you keep a photo copy as proof.
I am 61 and I wouldn't mind paying an administration fee towards my bus pass, - and I don't think £20 is over the top for a licence to last 10 years!
i don't know if this is true, but its free if you move house, so why not 'move house' and change your photo, the 'move' back!

imagine the horror of having to renew your drivers licence when you are 69 .....1 year of the free one ........ my god..I will be 68 when mine needs renewing ...what a rip off :0(

will pro rata come into the equation?
I still have a paper license.
I don't know you're making a fuss about it now. When they introduced the photo licence it was made clear it would have to be renewed every 10 years for a fee.
