I have only ventured about 1/4 mile from home today and have seen 4 clamped cars. I wondered why they were clamped as they were just outside peoples` houses and not on any yellow lines. I have just seen one on my road and it had a notice on the windscreen. Apparently, someone has been around and done a blitz on cars with no car tax. I guess the culprits will come home from work to an immobile car and a massive bill to get the clamps removed. I wonder if more people leave their vehicles untaxed these days because they think they will get away with it?
I am sure that there is an element of psychology here - because the tax status is no longer visible - no disc - people subconsciously imagine that no-one knows if their vehicle is taxed or not.
As these pilgrims have discovered to their cost - it's not quite that simple!
Although there is no disc in the window, I think that with number plate recognition software in many police cars, I think people are more likely to get caught these days.
Four cars within a matter your 1/4 mile does seem a high number doesn't is 237SJ? If it represents the average across the country, thats a massive amount of uncollected car tax.
