Car Insurance Claim
I was sat in my house, when a bloke lost control of his car and rammed into the back of my car, which was on my drive.I made a claim which was honoured by the insurers,no trouble. My question is what happens to my insurance premium when it is due. Also what do I put where it asks if I have made a claim in the last 5 years, regarding it going up.Thanks

His car was parked outside the house and a neighbour misjudged the space to pass and hit the car. He had to declare it to his insurance and the company put his premium up the next year because of it. As a he is a named driver on my policy, I also had to declare it and pay extra. My argument that he wasn't even in the car didn't have any effect as they said that it was still classed as an accident.
I agree, it is wrong. I wouldn't claim if I could sort it for under £2 or £300 but when I was involved in a multi vehicle crash with fatalities, serious personal injuries and write-offs (including my car) my insurance didn't go up. I did have protected NCD and the accident wasn't my fault.
You will just have to wait and see what happens at renewal
