There are currently no red-light cameras that also do you for speeding (although they do record your speed if you contravene the signal). I've heard that they are working on getting two-in-one speed and red-light cameras set up.
Small cctv-looking cameras are ususally used to detect traffic and/or pedestrians at crossings.
It may have been the way the sun refelected off the glass, this has happened to me a few times. I think it has flashed but has been a glance of sunlight!
they have started installing speed cameras at trafic lights. these are seperate to the red light cameras. there will be lines painted in the road the same as regular speed cameras have. they are there to discorage people from speeding up to get through the lights before they go red.
before you all post in saying i'm wrong. there is one on the A40 junction with old oak road, W3 london. on the east bound ( into town ) lights. look to the left side just before the lights , 20 meters or so. there is also a red light camera there. you have been warned.!!!!!
