Date when commited or date when endorsed?

Could somebody please asnwer this. Since December 2003 I got caught speeding 4 times, last time 2 days ago (always less then 10 mph over the limit). Always got 3 points and 60�, so the last one would take me to 12 points (maybe). The question is: The first speeding was done in December 2003 but the license was endorsed only in May 2004. So, what date counts? The date the offence was commited or the date the licence was endorsed? If the first, then I am alright, if the second I have 12 points and face a ban. And is it possible to drag the time somehow so I get my license endorsed in May 2007?

Endorsements for speeding must remain on a licence for four years from the date of offence.

...sorry, should have added that the 3-year period for "totting-up" purposes is likewise calculated from the date of offence.
