Is it true that you can park infront of someones garage if they dont have a dropped kurb? Ive heard you cant bump up kurbs as you damage them. I haven't done this but its just what ive heard. Thanks

It is illegal to drive on the footpath or pavement.

Therefore a garage without a dropped kerb cannot be accessed legally from the road.

'Do not park ...' signs put up by householders have no legal force whatsoever if they are relating to parking on the public highway.

Working on the answer you have given mrknowall, it would not be criminal damage if the owner of the garage did not do the handiwork. I don't think so.

We have people on my street who have put signs in their windows saying Resident Parking Only. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Many people today seem to take great delight in thinking they can take the law into their own hands. I wonder what they would say if the Police "gave their car a kicking" if it was parked on double yellows.

As has been said, if there is no drop down on the kerb, you can't stop people parking there.

Just because the law say you can park there doesnt mean u have to.

you never, know the guy may be on 24hr call and may have to knock on your door at 3am so that you can move your car. Park somewhere else mate

Parking in front of dropped kerbs is enforced by your local council's bylaws. The kerb must be dropped in order for any of these bylaws to become relevant in such a matter.

A simple "do not park in front of garage" sign is unenforceable.
