Are cars allowed to park in cycle lanes

Are cars allowed to park in cycle lanes where they are forcing the cycle out of the cycle lane into the middle of the road to overtake the car

It depends which council you are in - which is daft because you can't be expected to know the rules in each and every council area you may be driving through.

However, if there is no parking allowed it should be clearly stated on a plate.

If the road side of the cycle lane is bounded by a broken white line then parking/moving into the cycle lane to undertake a vehicle turning right is permitted. If the white line is solid then neither is allowed unless turning left into a driveway for example.
