Driving somenoe elses vehicle.. in their name.
25 Answers
Hi, I was driving my friends vehicle and had all of his details (address etc etc). I was stopped the other day claiming that i have no insurance, which my friend did have (as far as i know) - I was given a producer to produce, licence (both parts), insurance & MOT. As he's not in the country, i'll have to produce the documents, but i'd like to know how i'd get around this..
Anyone have any advice??

If not and you do not have insurance covering you to drive that car then it sounds as if you were uninsured.
It's very unusual for someone to have a policy that covers anybody to drive a specific car. Just because he's insured to drive his car doesn't mean you are

Well simply: Car is NOT mine, NOTHING is in my name, so i gave all his details. etc.
I'll just leave it and not produce anything - When he is back he can say someone took his vehicle and drove it without his permission and he doesnt know who it is. (They don't know who the driver is... But at the time the person (me) who drove posed as him..

He would be quizzed very closely to try and work out who knows enough about him to give all his details when stopped by the police, to have his car keys whilst he is on holiday and he could be done for allowing the use of his car without insurance.
Why on earth did you give the police false details?

didn't have a choice mate.
Everyone could know about his date of birth, address etc. + He technically didn't allow anyone to use his car (The car does have insurance by the way) - 'someone' just took the keys and used the car, so i don't think anything will really happen as they dont know who was actually using the car (They just think it's hi, but he was out the country and has tickets/stamps to proove this)..

If you gave your mates' details and you say he was insured, how come the database was saying no insurance.
I presume, unless they were new and naive, that the police officer got you to sign the producer for comparison to the driving licence when produced. Consequently Looseheads solution would not work. Besides what sort of friend drags his mate into trouble. Face up to your responsibities and admit what you have done before you add even more offences to your ever increasing tally.

You're so lucky Marvelman..
So basically what's the deal - I don't produce *hit and just go along with it?
I got top class professional advice from a mate saying "forget about it" - He has 5 producers since the last 36months and nothings happened to him for not taking anything down to the old bill.
"Warner Brother when you see the POLICE"
So it's a hustle out here.. It's got to be done.

You people make me sick - do you know how much time I waste investigating claims where monkeys like you crash cars, and then they're mates pretend the car was stolen?
What I really hope happens is that the copper who pulled you is on the desk of the police station and doesn't recognise your mate - I attended court on one of these a little while back - you both get stuffed, you get the book thrown at you for perverting the course of justice, no insurance (IN10), and your mate also gets perverting, a failure to disclsoe the driver if he's unlucky (MS90), and the insurance company will be notifed by the police, resulting in a cancelled policy and the pair of you idiots being loaded onto databases that effectively zero your credit rating for 12 months and leave you as a proven fraudster for life on your credit rating.
I love catching you scumbags out and the grief it causes you
