Speeding Fine

My son was sent a police notice telling him he went through speed-restricted roadworks on the motorway at 60mph. it does not however, tell him what the speed enforcement was at the time, just that he was going through at 60mph. Someone has told us the speed limit through the roadworks is 50mph, but the police haven't told us that. When I received a speeding fine, it clearly told me what speed I was caught going at but also the max speed I should have been doing. Are the police incorrect in not telling him ? TIA

hello yes the police are incorrect you can rectify this easily i would get legal advice also a solicitor should be able to get it sorted for you

What sort of notice? a polite letter, a notice of intended prosecution, ? Any official numbrt on it?

Yes toureman - it was the official letter from police asking him to confirm that he was the driver which he has to return within 28 days.

I have had four of this type of letter - in each case I have given the information they need and decided not to cough up the fine & take the points. In every case they HAVENT taken me to court. (all over two years now). One of them was for doing 92 on the motorway.
I know its irresponsible but it doesnt pay to just admit defeat & pay up.

If you have received a NIP follow the instructions on it.

If you contest it in court it could cost you around �1500 with not much chance of winning.
