Council that speeded up the adoption of a baby girl before her father could stop it

Three senior judges yesterday condemned the behaviour of social workers. The social workers gave the baby to her adoptive parents 24 hours before the girl's father was due in court to fight for her. East Sussex County Council was slammed by Lord Justice Thorpe who said the council was more concerned with its "owns ends by means more foul than fair." The father of the girl did not know he was until nine months after the girl was born, she lived in a social services unit with her mother who left her there. The decision to put the girl up for adoption was made. Legal papers informing the man about the situation were sent to him, he was not able to reply as he was in hospital recovering from a heart attack. His solicitor sent a letter challenging the adoption but it all went ahead anyway and the baby was placed with her adoptive parents 24 hours before the father was due in court to fight for her. What do you think?

Social Services have a real big problem concerning Fathers who want to raise their own children.

Unfortunatly this is the SS of today. They have earned that link to the Nazi bully boys simply because they have on many occasions behaved like them.
I think the judge however has not helped either. Telling the man he is in the right and then telling him that basically it makes no difference whats so ever because it is done is just rewarding the SS for what is, on there part a plian and simple "f*ck you we will do what ever we want and answer to no one attitude."

Typical leftiy attitude of do what I say not what I do and I know better than any of you. Whats the betting they took the child round in a moriss minor accomanied by two lesbians and a driver wearing a jacket with elbow patches on.

Still it about what I expect with the current incumbents in power. The arrogance comes right from the top.

East Sussex County Council (the one responsible for this disgraceful episode) is a solidly Tory Council. Probably more so after today.

It's true, it is hard to tell The New Tories and New Labour apart.

Don't know the situation of the man, but it's possible that there were reasons that Social Services though he wouldn't be too good a dad? If the case he has is that good then surely he would have just had that judgement overturned by another judge without question.

But that's exactly why we have courts - so that the judgement of others (in this case SS) can be reviewed by an independant judge. If the SS felt they had good reasons, their duty was to present them to a court - not to rush ahead and present the court with a fait accompli.
