can i park on a pavement that has been divided by half tarmac and the other half paving blocks? i had parked on the tarmac part of the pavement as i have done for the last 6 years but at midnight warden gave me a ticket.

No - it is illegal to park on any pavement unless there are signs specifically telling you to do so.
