Driving without due car & attention

Hi all - I'll explain my situation below.
In February 2008, I had an accident whilst driving home from work. I was driving at night along a road I'd never been on before.
The road was a B road and the speed limit was 40mph. I proceeded along this route until I saw an oncoming car with it's lights on.
I was dazzled slightly but I cannot confirm whether this car had full beam lights or normal.
This car was stationary.
This is where my error occured.
The piece of road in which this car was stationary had no centre lines (which means the road is thinner?).
I didn't approach the car at a slower enough speed, my judgement at the time was that I wasn't going to be able to fit through the gap in order to continue my journey. I panicked.
I therefore steered to my left to avoid the car on the opposite side of the road. I then swerved to my right to avoid crashing into the hedge to my left.
After avoiding the hedge I lost control of my car and crashed into another oncoming vehicle.

On June 28th I had a phone call from the police saying I was being reported for driving without due care and attention and needed to go to have an interview with them. So I did.
Now I'm being summoned to court for September 10th. I have decided to plead guilty but I feel no need for a solicitor. What do you think?
I already have 3 points for use of mobile phone whilst driving.
I have been driving for 2 1/2 years.

If you are going to plead guilty, then you don't need a solicitor. Just explain the facts as you believe them to be.
You've been driving for 2.5 years. In February, when the accident happened, how long had you been driving exactly?
If it was less than 2 years you may have your licence revoked and have to retake your test.

What you are really saying graham is that you are a very inexperienced driver. That's why your insurance premiums are so high and why they will be even higher now. In time, you will learn not to approach or enter any road situation about which you are unsure. It takes about 15 years for the average driver to be considered reasonably experienced. Perhaps you can now see why.
